May 11th/12th: Guardian Masterclass on Writing Crime Fiction
I’ll be teaching an introduction to writing crime fiction with writer MR Hall and agent David Headley. Unfortunately this is sold out – but we’re doing it again in July (see below).
May 18th: Bookstock at The Green Man
I’ll be joining writers Matt Haig, Liz Harris, Seki Lynch and Lane Ashfeldt at the North London Reading Group’s regular meet-up. I’ll be reading from The Twelfth Department, answering questions and signing books. It’s in a pub, so what could possibly go wrong …
May 21st: London Launch of The Twelfth Department
Should be a good night at Goldsboro Books (near Leicester Square Tube station) for the London Launch. If you’re nearby it would be great to see you.
Back in Limerick for the publication day itself and an Irish Launch at O’Mahonys Bookshop – drop in if you’re in the neighbourhood.
May 25th: Limerick Writers Centre
For a nominal 5 euros, I’ll be spilling the beans on how to develop your fictional characters. The Limerick Writers Centre is a great little organisation so drop along and find out what they’re up to …
June 1st: Bristol Crimefest
I’m on two panels – one on Cold War fiction with Martin Walker, Aly Monroe, Tom Harper and John Lawton and I’ll be moderating another on “Major Cities: Major Crimes” with K.O. Dahl, Babara Nadel, Pierre Lamaitre and David Jackson. It’s a great weekend and tickets are going fast if you’d like to come.
June 5th: Urmston Bookshop
I’m on the road again with Chris Morgan-Jones and MR Hall for a trip to Urmston (near Manchester). More details to follow but a very enjoyable evening awaits for the lucky attendees.
June 6th: SilverDell Bookshop
The SilverDell Bookshop in Kirkham is host to Chris, Matthew and myself for a second evening of crime fiction jollity.
June 30th Ludlow Fringe Festival
MR Hall and myself will be in conversation at The Ludlow Fringe Festival.
July 3rd: Biggleswade Library (near Luton)
I’ll be reading from The Twelfth Department, chatting about researching novels set in Soviet Russia and answering questions.
July 4th: Crime in the Court
If you haven’t been to a Crime in the Court before – now’s your chance. Goldsboro Books will host over fifty crime novelists for an evening of conversation and wine. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to get signed copies from top-notch writers.
July 6th/7th: Guardian Masterclass on Writing Crime Fiction
Another Guardian Masterclass with Matthew Hall and David Headley – places are still available and it’s a great two-day introduction to the craft.
July 11th Heffers Bookshop in Cambridge
MR Hall, Chris Morgan-Jones and myself will be signing books and chatting about this and that.
I’ll be joining MR Hall, Henry Sutton and a phalanx of top crime writers for Creative Thursday at The Harrogate Crime Festival. There are only a handful of places left, I think – and it’s a great start to the festival weekend.
