I just finished reading the Darkening Field. I have also read the Holy Thief. I am a fan of police procedurals and detective stories set in the United Kingdom. I also like stories set around World War II. I enjoyed both of your books and look forward to reading more. Your website is fantastic.

Thanks Judy, That’s great news that you like the boooks and, possibly even more so, that you like the website. I’ve been putting a lot of work into it recently so it’s nice to hear it’s being noticed. With a bit of luck there will be a few new pages of photographs up in the next few weeks so please come back and let me know what you think.

Read THE DARKENING FIELD, finding Korolev believable enough to engage interest. Was looking for the Kuris Manor, but found fascinating tattoo-lore instead. Thanks for sharing the photos and finds of your research.

That’s great to hear, Linda. There’s a competition for The Holy Thief, the first in the series, going on on the news page in case you might be interested. And I’ll be updating things in the next few months so please drop in again.

Really enjoyed holy thief, I thought it was very well written and accurate for the time period it’s set in! I really enjoy reading novels that are set in the communist Russia era and I’m in the process of reading your second book. Love the website too, it’s very informative and interesting.

That’s great to hear and I hope you enjoy the second book as well. Please drop back and let me know …
P.s. Just finishing the third one now – I’ll post a couple of chapters in a few weeks time.

This web site is amazing. Wish these photos were published in a book so I could peruse them again and again. A lot to digest, here . The explosion of “Christ the Savior” is heartbreaking, makes me cry. However, the spirit of the Russian people always inspires me to read more . Your books are wonderful, after Holy Thief and Bloody Meadow , beginning Darkening Field. Can’t wait for more. Thankyou, Catherine

Thanks for the kind words – and also for reminding me I need to add some more photographs in the next couple of weeks. I’m very pleased you like them and even more pleased you’ve been enjoying the books.
A word of warning though – The Bloody Meadow is the original title of The Darkening Field. I’m not sure why they changed the title in the US – and I wish they hadn’t – but I’m very sorry if you’ve bought the same book twice. The only good news is that I don’t think that you’ve read The Twelfth Department yet – and it’s probably my favourite out of the three.
All the best

I have read all 3 books twice. I love them! You have created such likable characters, and great stories. The detective work among that era of Russia is so interesting. I cannot wait for another one….

Great to hear from you and delighted you’re enjoying the novels. I’m hoping to release a couple of kindle short stories next year to keep you ticking over – sorry for the wait until the next one …
